Eyebrow hair transplantation requires meticulous attention to the natural sweep and curvature of natural eyebrow hairs. Most eyebrow hairs grow relatively flat along the skin and in an arching curve in the medial club which becomes patterned into a fish-tail orientation in which the hairs aim toward each other at about 30 degrees. Eyebrows have a straighter and lower configuration in the male, and a slightly more arching and tapering shape for the female. The degree of peak and arch for the female eyebrow has become more conservative over the years but can be adjusted to the desired shape that will fit one's eyes, face, and desired styles. Eyebrows can be lost through natural aging, with certain diseases like a low thyroid condition, or through cancer or other trauma. After eyebrow hair transplant, the eyebrows can grow as quickly as the hairs on one's scalp, necissitating frequent grooming.
