Technique-Donor Closure
Dr. Lam takes as much pride in his care for your donor area (back of your head where the hair is taken) as your recipient area (front of the head where the hair is transplanted). Accordingly, he performs meticulous donor closure to the highest standard of skill and technical mastery. The introductory video helps you understand that the beautiful closure begins with a beautiful harvest. Every step of the harvest from protecting nerve and blood supply, proper tumescence, and minimal hair transection influences the quality of the donor closure as the actual closure itself. Dr. Lam then closes his incisions with perfectly executed sutures (never staples) in the most precise way, e.g., half follicular depth and perpendicular orientation of suture placement. This leads to better wound healing, significantly less discomfort for the week after the procedure, and the potential for improved graft growth through the protection of your native blood supply.
