Ethnic Hair Transplant
Dr. Lam and his team perform extensive ethnic hair transplant in the full gamut of ethnicities including Hispanic, Asian, African, and Middle Eastern. Creating ethnically sensitive results are critical to a successful outcome. For example, the hairline in various ethnicities are markedly different:
-
Asian hair restoration, they have slightly wider, rounder hairlines that fit their facial features.
-
African hair restoration, they have straighter hairlines that match their ethnic pattern.
-
Middle Eastern hair restoration, they have a hairline that can be more closely akin to Caucasian hairlines but must be matched to their facial shape and pattern of existing hair loss.
-
Hispanic hair restoration, they may exhibit Asian (indigenous Native American/Indian), African, and Caucasian features depending on the mixed heritage from which they come and thereby the hairline is tailored to that constraint.
Ethnic Hair Transplant Procedures;
Beyond good design, hair quality is remarkably different and must be understood in order to achieve natural results. For Asian hair transplantation, the very thick, straight black hair against a paler skin background must be placed at very low angles to appear natural. For African hair restoration, the curlier black hair must be harvested with precision and placed in such a way that the hair matches the exit angles of the scalp. For Middle Eastern and Hispanic hair transplantation, they both are naturally much coarser in general and must be placed at the right angulation to create the most aesthetically pleasing and natural results, which also indirectly lead to greater perceived hair density. Being of ethnic origin himself, Dr. Lam is particularly attuned to the needs of the non-Caucasian patient, whether male or female, seeking hair restoration.
