The very best dining in the Dallas metroplex is still down south in Dallas near downtown. Without traffic, the drive time is about 20-25 minutes and with traffic the drive time can be 45 minutes are longer. Dr. Lam loves restaurant dining and many of his patients ask him where to eat in Dallas without worrying about the drive time. Here are Dr. Lam’s favorite restaurants based on type of food. One of Dr. Lam’s favorite foods is Italian. Here’s his list of the very best (according to Dr. Lam):

Dolce Riviera

2950 N Harwood St Suite 115, Dallas, TX 75201, 469-458-6623

Very good and creative Italian in a beautiful setting, homemade pasta; try their chocolate paparadelle!

Upscale and creative Italian, homemade pasta; and you must get the white clam pizza!

408 W Eighth St #101, Dallas, TX 75208, 214-948-4998

Upscale and delicious but books out a month in advance except for one walk-in table that is outdoors or bar seating, homemade pasta; you can book through their website, not opentable

Simple, traditional, casual but delicious, homemade pasta.

Homemade pasta, straightforward, and good if you want to stay in Plano but not as good as the Dallas establishments.

For Japanese (his other favorite cuisine), he recommends the following:

1722 Routh St, Dallas, TX 75201, 214-220-2828

Very artistic, great sushi, amazing Italian-style soba [regular soba not that good], must try to the Tei-An shrimp and the black honey soba ice cream.

Sushi Sake

Let the chef make some omakase [chef’s choice] for you, very straightforward but excellent sushi.

Great sushi but really great grilled selections.

Tei-Tei Robata

2906 N Henderson Ave, Dallas, TX 75206, 214-828-2400

Does not take reservations and long wait but great everything from sushi to non-sushi items.

2817 Maple Ave, Dallas, TX 75201, 214-855-5454

Not Dr. Lam’s favorite and it is expensive but they do interesting modern interpretations of sushi.

For dry-aged steaks (you must like the blue-cheese funky taste), he recommends the following:

Town Hearth

1617 Market Center Blvd, Dallas, TX 75207, 214-761-1617

Very noisy but I love their steaks that feed a few people. Mind-blowing!

5300 E Mockingbird Ln, Dallas, TX 75206, 214-443-9339

Great 280 day dry-aged steak if they have it in stock.

Neighborhood Services

5027 W Lovers Ln, Dallas, TX 75209, 214-350-5027

Get their “Funk Room” steak or just get anything on the menu. It’s not a steakhouse. They have so many other awesome options and they have multiple locations.

For wet-aged steaks, he recommends the following restaurants:

Pappas Bros.

5027 W Lovers Ln, Dallas, TX 75209, 214-366-2000

Classic, Great Steaks.

Amazing wet-aged meat with free sides.

Del Frisco’s

7200 Bishop Road, Suite D9, Plano, TX 75024, 469-661-8012

The new king in town, great ambience and great steaks, which happens have a Plano location.

For BBQ, he recommends the following:

Pecan Lodge

The best in Dallas with heavily smoked taste and long wait times.

1026 E 15th St, Plano, TX 75074, 972-516-8900

Excellent smokey taste, which also happens to have a Plano location.
